The STAR Center: Empowering children and adults with disabilities through access to technology and other resources for living, learning and working. A non-profit organization, it is a partnership of persons with disabilities, their family members, educators, professional services and physicians. The STAR Center never turns anyone away because of inability to pay and provides services to individuals with disabilities throughout the 21 counties of West Tennessee

PROGRAMS INCLUDE:

Music And Art Therapy-Uses music, musical instruments, and art-related strategies with established principles of psychology to provide assistance to children and adults with disabilities to meet educational, physical, communication, social, emotional, or cognitive goals.

Vision Services - Provides assistance to visually impaired adults and children to assist them in living independently, working, and/or learning .The "Babies Program"-specifically for infants and young children with vision impairment.

Hi-Tech Computer Training for the Workplace - Program to teach use of workplace technologies in order for them to reach their goals of competitive employment.

Receivables Management Training - Receivables Management Training trains physically disabled persons to become collectors, skip tracers and data entry, check collection pre-certification assistants, in cooperation with premiere members of the collection industry

Vocational Assessments - Assessment to identify an individual's job-related strengths, weaknesses, abilities, and interests.

Job Placement and Job Coaching Services-Assist people with disabilities in obtaining competitive employment followed by on-the job coaching if needed.

Augmentative Communication Evaluation and Training-Program to provide children and adults with communication disorders an alternative method of communication.

Environmental Control Evaluation and Training-Provides options for people with disabilities to control their environment independently through the use of voice or movement-based switches or computer commands.

Computer Access/Assistive Technology Evaluations-Provides technology and software options to enable a child or adult with a disability to learn or work effectively or to live independently.
